Remove the AI label from your photos in one click.

Drop your image and we'll strip the C2PA, XMP, EXIF and IPTC traces that AI tools and platforms read. Your photo never leaves your device.

Your image stays in the format you uploaded: JPG → JPG, HEIC → HEIC.

How it works

A clean photo in three steps

  1. 1

    Upload

Drag your images in or choose them. Up to 30 at a time.

  2. 2

    We clean it

AI traces and location are removed in your browser. The image isn't recompressed and the file format stays the same.

  3. 3

    Download

Save the clean copies one by one or as a ZIP, then share.

What we remove

What AI metadata we remove from your photos

Platforms and AI tools read an image's origin from these tags inside the file — long before they look at the pixels.

  • C2PA / Content Credentials

The signed provenance record added by ChatGPT, Firefly and some cameras. A common source of Meta's "AI info" label.

  • XMP

Fields written by Midjourney, DALL·E, Firefly and Photoshop Generative Fill — including "created with AI" markers.

  • EXIF

Software name, device, capture date and a small preview image. It can reveal the AI tool that was used.

  • IPTC

Description fields from Adobe and newsroom tools; the "digital source type" can carry an AI marker.

  • PNG text chunks

Where Stable Diffusion and ComfyUI store your prompt, model and workflow as plain text.

  • Location (GPS)

The coordinates where the photo was taken. Always removed, so you don't share your home address.

AI label remover

Remove the AI label from photos for Instagram, Facebook and TikTok

Why does the AI label appear?

Instagram's "AI info", the AI label on Facebook and Threads, and TikTok's "AI-generated" tag often come from invisible data inside the photo: C2PA Content Credentials, the digital source type in XMP and the software name in EXIF. Even a small AI retouch can leave these traces. Read how to remove the AI label on Instagram for the details.

Free AI metadata remover — no uploads

CleanAILabel removes the AI label from photos entirely in your browser. It deletes C2PA, XMP, IPTC and EXIF metadata from JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC files, and because the image isn't recompressed there's no quality loss. The same tool lets you remove EXIF data, strip location from photos and convert HEIC to JPG.

ChatGPT, Midjourney and Stable Diffusion images

ChatGPT and DALL·E images carry a C2PA record, while Stable Diffusion and ComfyUI store your prompt and workflow inside the PNG. All of it is cleaned in one go. See how to remove the AI label from ChatGPT images.

Honestly: we can't guarantee it

CleanAILabel removes the AI metadata inside the file. Platforms can still apply a label based on invisible watermarks (such as SynthID), their own detection models or your own disclosure. That's why we don't guarantee the label disappears — and some platforms require AI content to be disclosed under their rules.

HEIC → JPG

Turn iPhone photos into JPG

Many sites and apps can't open HEIC. CleanAILabel converts them to JPG in your browser without uploading anything — and the result carries no location or device data.

Privacy

Your photos never leave this device.

Once the page has loaded, all processing happens in your browser. We have no image server, no database and no upload service.

  • No uploads

Images, file names and metadata are never sent to any server.

  • Measurement, but no image sharing

The Google tag is on the page, but visit statistics are only collected if you allow it. Our application code never passes your images or metadata to Google.

  • Check it yourself

In the Network tab you won't see any request carrying image data while you clean; any Google requests belong to analytics and ads only.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is removing the AI label on Instagram guaranteed?

No. Instagram and Facebook can add an "AI info" label by reading C2PA and IPTC/XMP markers in the file, and CleanAILabel removes those markers. But Meta can also use invisible watermarks, its own detection and user disclosure, so results can vary from image to image.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Reading, cleaning, converting and building the ZIP all happen in your browser, on your own device. We don't run an image server — you can confirm this in your browser's Network tab.

Which formats are supported?

JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC/HEIF. Your image is cleaned in the format you uploaded — we never change it. Up to 30 images at a time, each up to 15 MB. AVIF and GIF aren't supported yet.

Does cleaning reduce photo quality?

No. The image isn't recompressed; only the metadata blocks inside the file are removed. Pixels and colours stay the same. (Only the optional HEIC → JPG tool creates a new JPG.)

Is it free? How many photos can I clean?

Yes, it's free and needs no account. You can process 30 images at a time and start as many new batches as you like.

What's the difference between EXIF, XMP and C2PA? (Midjourney, DALL·E, Firefly)

EXIF holds technical camera and software details. XMP holds extended fields from tools — Midjourney, DALL·E and Firefly usually write their "created with AI" info here. C2PA is Content Credentials: a cryptographically signed record of where an image came from. CleanAILabel removes all three in your browser.

Are invisible watermarks like SynthID removed too?

No. Invisible watermarks aren't a tag added to the file; they're a pattern woven into the pixels. CleanAILabel is a metadata tool and doesn't remove watermarks. That's one reason platforms may still label some images after cleaning.

What is Instagram's "AI info" label?

It's a note Meta adds to content it detects — or the user discloses — as created or edited with AI. Detection relies on industry-standard markers (C2PA, IPTC), which is why even a small AI edit in Photoshop can trigger it.

Can I keep my own photo's camera details?

Yes — they're kept by default. With "Keep my camera details" on, AI markers are removed while your photo's own device, lens and capture date stay. Turn it off to remove those too. Location is always removed. We never add camera information that wasn't there.

Will my HEIC photo be converted to JPG?

No — it's cleaned as HEIC and downloads as HEIC. If you want a JPG, use the separate HEIC → JPG tool, which also strips location and device details.

Is my original file changed?

No. Browsers don't let websites overwrite your files. The clean image downloads as a new file with "-clean" added to its name.

Responsible use

  • Only process images you have the rights to.
  • Where and how you share a cleaned image is your decision and your responsibility.
  • Removing metadata can make an image's origin impossible to verify, and it can't be undone.
  • CleanAILabel doesn't certify whether an image is real or AI-generated.
