AI label remover for ChatGPT images

Download the image you created in ChatGPT and drop it here; we'll delete the C2PA record OpenAI adds to the file, plus other AI signals, in your browser.

Your image stays in the format you uploaded: JPG → JPG, HEIC → HEIC.

We can't guarantee every platform drops its label: platforms may also use invisible watermarks and their own detection. Why?

What ChatGPT adds to an image

OpenAI adds C2PA Content Credentials to images created with ChatGPT and DALL·E. This signed record states that the image was produced with OpenAI tools, and social platforms can read it.

The record lives in a chunk called caBX in PNG files, in the APP11 segment in JPEGs and in a C2PA chunk in WebP. It doesn't change the picture; it just travels inside the file.

Why clean instead of taking a screenshot?

A screenshot drops metadata, but it caps resolution at your screen size, may shift colours and needs cropping. Cleaning leaves the image byte-for-byte identical and only removes the record block.

Good to know

  • Once the C2PA record is removed, the image's origin can no longer be verified; this can't be undone.
  • OpenAI may use other methods on its side to verify provenance.
  • Usage rights and OpenAI's usage policies remain your responsibility.

Step by step

Removing the C2PA record from a ChatGPT image

  1. 1

    Download the image

Save the original file (usually PNG) with the download button on the image in ChatGPT.

  2. 2

    Drop it here

In the report, find the "C2PA / Content Credentials" row with a tool name such as "OpenAI".

  3. 3

    Use the clean copy

Download once it says "Removed"; the file stays a PNG and quality doesn't change.

Honestly: we can't guarantee it

Clean AI Label removes the AI metadata inside the file. Platforms can still apply a label based on invisible watermarks (such as SynthID), their own detection models or your own disclosure. That's why we don't guarantee the label disappears — and some platforms require AI content to be disclosed under their rules.

Frequently asked questions

My ChatGPT image is a PNG — does it become a JPG?

No. The file keeps the format you uploaded: a PNG is cleaned and downloaded as a PNG.

How do I confirm the C2PA record is gone?

The tool re-scans the clean file and only marks fields as "Removed" when they really are. You can also check on a Content Credentials verification site.

Are images from other OpenAI tools supported?

Yes, as long as the file is JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC; its C2PA record and XMP signals are cleaned the same way.

Do ChatGPT images have an invisible watermark?

The methods OpenAI uses for provenance may change over time. The tool only cleans metadata in the file; it doesn't remove marks embedded in the pixels.

Privacy

Your photos never leave this device.

Once the page has loaded, all processing happens in your browser. We have no image server, no database and no upload service.

  • No uploads

Images, file names and metadata are never sent to any server.

  • Measurement, but no image sharing

The Google tag is on the page, but visit statistics are only collected if you allow it. Our application code never passes your images or metadata to Google.

  • Check it yourself

In the Network tab you won't see any request carrying image data while you clean; any Google requests belong to analytics and ads only.

If you allow it, we collect visit statistics with Google Analytics and show interest-based ads with Google AdSense. If you reject, no measurement takes place and only non-personalised ads are shown. Your images and metadata are never sent to Google. Privacy policy
